* The Biggest Super Deluxe Box Of All. We're not naming artists, labels or album titles at this point in time. So let's just say that one of the most WELL-KNOWN and CLASSIC albums of all time will soon be released in an Extra Super Deluxe Mega-Plus Extra Deluxe Box Set that will top all others that have come before. The set will include a 5,000 page hardback book detailing every single aspect of the album from a variety of perspectives as well as previously unseen secret photographs and peculiar oddities. All previously remastered versions of the album will be included (all 50 of 'em) plus 375 NEWLY REMASTERED versions of the album will be included. Included in the new remasters are ten (10) high-definition remasters. But that's not all. Also Included are 735 new remixes that include the No-Frills Remix, the Basics Remix, the Extra Tracks remix, the Extra Effects remix, the Buffalo Index Card Remix, the Tri-Cities Chomp Chomp Remix, the Bra and Bra-Related Remix, the Dirty Clock Remix...and MORE. Everyone is waiting on their pins, needles and toes for this one. Details will be released soon when more details are released... [continued below]
* Even MORE Looney Tunes. We're sad to report that the Collector's Choice Looney Tunes series is apparently no more. After releasing 4 superb volumes on blu-ray (so great it's hard to put into words), the fine folks at Warner Bros. have apparently decided to end that series. But the GREAT news...is that they have now started a new series that appears to be even BETTER. The new collection is entitled Collector's Vault. If the first one is any indication of what's to come, hold onto your bonnets because we're all in for a super wild ride. Volume 1 is a two disc set. The first disc features 25 Looney Tunes that have previously never EVER been released on DVD or blu-ray before (yow!). It's like a dream come true, seeing more rare cartoons from the Golden Age of Looney Tunes unearthed and restored to perfection. And the second disc ain't no chump change neither. The second blu-ray features 25 fan favorites that are making their HD debut here. So you get 50 incredibly fantastic cartoons for a ridiculously low price. We can't recommend Volume 1 of the Collector's Vault series highly enough. It is absolutely ESSENTIAL VIEWING. * Esther Phillips. You don't see or hear the name Esther Phillips so much in 2025. And that's a real shame because this captivating lady made some of the best R&B pop that has ever been recorded. Phillips started her career at a very young age (then known as Little Esther) and captivated audiences for many years with her velvety smooth voice and magnetic personality. Thankfully her recorded material is still out there for those who are willing to do a bit or searching. There are a couple of key box sets out that contain most of the stuff she recorded. Ms. Phillips may not be the best known, but she is certainly the cream of the crop when it comes to solid worthwhile music that has stood the test of time. Highly recommended. * Extreme Limited Edition Colored Vinyl. Lexington, Kentucky-based label Transcendental Revolution has just released a 7" vinyl single entitled Lost In The Noise by the band Small Steps. This cool single is pressed on eye-popping pink vinyl and is being offered in a limited run of only 100 copies (yow!). You get a lot of bang for your bucks here too...five nifty tracks including "Girth Brooks" and "Knobs/Bottoms." Small Steps is comprised of Coty Whitt (drums, vocals), Justin Batzel (bass, vocals), Jon Endonino (guitars) and Jeremiah Duncan (vocals, guitars). [continued below]
* The Latest and Greatest. The latest new band to capture everyone's attention is Deteriorating Piece of Fabric That Was Purchased At A Small Second-Hand Store In Albuquerque. The band's smart hyperactive dance pop is infectious and believable. Waist and Thigh Records has just released the band's new album When You Do Anything You Amount to Nothing While Everyone is Immediate and Almost Trivial When You Consider the Overall Decades Make Sense To No One But You Can Expect Everyone To Watch While You Imagine Good News That You Won't Hear Again In A Million Years. Our favorite song is the title track "When You Do Anything You Amount to Nothing While Everyone is Immediate and Almost Trivial When You Consider the Overall Decades Make Sense To No One But You Can Expect Everyone To Watch While You Imagine Good News That You Won't Hear Again In A Million Years." You can expect to hear a lot more about Deteriorating Piece of Fabric That Was Purchased At A Small Second-Hand Store In Albuquerque in the coming months. * New 2025 Album From Barry Schrader. We are pleased as punch that Barry Schrader has a new album out since he hasn't released any new material in about ten years. Entitled Ambient: Aether, the album features four beautifully executed ambient instrumentals: Cloudrise," "Atmosphereic Rivers," "Supernal Ascent" and "Aether." All of the sounds were computer generated and yet...the overall sound is surprisingly warm and organic. Truly nice hypnotic stuff. * Repairs? What Repairs? It seems that repairs are a thing of the past. Once upon a time people repaired things because they were worth repairing. But now that virtually everything is disposable savvy folks have come to the conclusion that it doesn't make sense to repair anything anymore. And that doesn't just apply to merchandise, it also applies to little floppy mental things. Now that little floppy mental things are disposable it doesn't make sense to repair them anymore because they're not worth anything. Repairs, Schmrepairs. Who needs 'em? * Fan favorite Christian Kjellvander has just released a new album courtesy of the fine folks at Germany's Tapete Records. Entitled Ex Voto / The Silent Love, the album features nine more intelligent tracks with impeccable arrangements. Cool songs include "Love Of Another," "It Can Heal You If You Let It" and "Deathrider." * Underground recording artist Charles Boyd has yet another new release out. Interestingly, this crafty Canadian musician has released his latest on a USB stick that just has his website printed on the side (CharlesBoyd.com). [continued below]
* A Growing Trend. There is a growing trend that has been reported. The trend continues to grow because more people are jumping on the bandwagon. This trend is expected to continue well into the next century and beyond. * National Wash Your Hair Month. October is National Wash Your Hair Month. During this time people will be encouraged to wet their hair and apply shampoo to their scalp. After massaging the shampoo for a few minutes they should then wash the shampoo out and dry their hair. Because there are many people who do not have access to water and/or shampoo, free water and/or shampoo will be given out to those in need of water and/or shampoo. This will make it possible for those who cannot afford water and/or shampoo to take part in National Wash Your Hair Month even though they cannot afford water and/or shampoo. * Make Money Mending Socks. It seems like every time you turn around there are new job opportunities crawling out of the woodwork. This year the biggest money-making opportunity is in repairing socks. Most people can no longer afford to purchase new socks so they want their old socks mended like never before. And they will pay big bucks to those who can mend well. According to the latest data, a person can make anywhere from $5.00 to $12.50 per day mending socks, and that's just the beginning. Some have reported earnings of well over $15.00 per day. * More and More Public Eyesore. There's a label that goes faster than a spinning bullet in 2025 and that label is Public Eyesore. The folks at this clever label have just released two new cassette releases that are peculiar and anything but conventional. The first is Lemtat Unit by Supertoque. The music on this album was recorded in 2014 and the contributing musicians are Kelly Churko, Cal Lyall and Tim Olive. This music was rediscovered a decade after Churko's passing and now for the first time ever it will be heard around the world. The second cassette is Saudara Tua by Saudara Tua (self-titled). This band is the duo comprised of Rahul Jigyasu and Aldo Ahmad. Combining sounds from India and Indonesia, this is the duo's debut album and likely the beginning of what will be a very rewarding endeavor for both parties. * Tro Essex Hits The Target Again. We've been hearing some really cool things lately from the Tro Essex Music label so their latest project immediately caught our attention. Just out on Shamus Records (a subsidiary label) is a new release from Alex Wong entitled Permission. This captivating disc features progressive pop that recalls some of the best recording artists from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Alex comes up with instantly memorable melodies and his lyrics are way above average. And his velvety smooth vocals really make these track sizzle. True to the claim of the press release, Wong's sound is reminiscent of artists like Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens and Greogory Alan Isakov. Impeccably arranged compositions include "Permission," "Second Generation," "The Quiet Voice" and "If You Want To You Will." * Extraordinary Ventriloquist Puppets. We were recently searching for a cool looking professional ventriloquist dummy. It didn't take long to come to the conclusion that most of what's offered now are just large generic felt/cloth hand puppets with stick-on eyes that cost nothing to make and look...crummy. After a bit of searching we came across an exceedingly talented fellow who has made it his mission in life to restore classic old ventriloquist dummies and create new ones with the same strange visual traits we've seen in so many bizarre old horror movies. Austin Phillips is breathing new life into the art of classic ventriloquism and also keeping the overall spirit alive. He restores vintage and antique puppets and also creates his own new originals that have the same strange, eerie look. Anyone who has ever loved great classic ventriloquist puppets will get a major charge out of what this guy is doing. Check out his website at PhillipsPuppets.com and prepare to be amazed. We love it when we come across people in the world who have found their own unique niches and also have the talent, determination and skills to do truly amazing things. *
